Aims of the Program

ELESP at the Faculty of Teacher Education WMSCU aims at preparing future quality English teachers and educators at the Bachelor Level (S1 Level) who are reflective and creative, adaptive to changes, and realizing their transformative agency for the betterment of the society.

As the embodiment of the program’s vision and mission, ELESP strive to become a place for active learning and to create academic atmosphere that enhances the caring for the disadvantaged, reinforces commitment to the profession, and stimulates enthusiasm to achieve the best of each student.

The principal aims of ELESP are:
1.       To prepare quality English teachers
2.       To enhance English proficiency of the students
3.       To cultivate the spirit of Caring, Commitment, and Enthusiasm
4.       To develop students’ understanding on the foundations of English teacher education.
5.       To develop students’ soft skills for leadership and problem solving in ELT practices.
6.       To support the professional development and career of the students and alumni.
7.       To develop students’ entrepreneurship spirit.

Program’s Outcomes:

1. Graduates are able to communicate on various topics to various audiences in both spoken and written English in various contexts, in various genres, and for various purposes effectively.
2. Graduates are able to analyze, design, develop, and evaluate English language teaching curriculum and its derived pedagogical and assessment instruments and teach English accordingly by integrating character education, 21st C skills, life-long learning skills, and higher order thinking skills (HOTS).
3. Graduates are able to integrate the information and communication technology in material development, teaching learning processes, assessment, and other pedagogical purposes.
4.Graduates are able to analyze the phenomena in the English linguistics and literature and apply the knowledge in ELT practices, materials development, and assessment.
5. Graduates are able to plan, design, and conduct educational research to solve teaching and learning problems in English education as well as disseminating the research results through seminars and publications and to build up best practices in English education.
6.  Graduates are able to live and work professionally, reflective, and being life-long learners, and are able to live as good citizens who uphold the state’s ideology Pancasila and the universal principles of Catholicism for the betterment of the Indonesian society.
7. Graduates are able to become models of life-long learners who motivate learners and inspire the general public to enhance their mastery of English as an essential tool to survive in the 21st Century and contribute to improve life in the society.
