The Dean's Welcoming Remarks

Welcome to the WMSCU’s Faculty of Communication Science

The ability to communicate cannot be separated from every aspect of human life. This is what is offered by Widya Mandala Surabaya Catholic University’s Faculty of Communication Science (FIKOM UKWMS), which is committed to becoming an excellent and trustworthy Faculty of Communication Science in Indonesia by developing and preparing academics to become graduates of communication science based on creative, reflective, and professional values.

This is embodied through the implementation of the Three Responsibilities of Higher Education or Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (PT), namely by providing high-quality education and teaching to produce creative, reflective, and professional graduates who can implement their competencies for industrial advancement, technology and community welfare, and can conduct research and community service activities to produce useful outcomes for scientific development.

FIKOM UKWMS has 2 study programs (Prodi), namely the Communication Science Study Program (located at the Surabaya Campus) and the English Language Study Program (located at the Madiun City Campus). The Communication Science Study Program has 4 specific graduate profiles, namely Communication Academics, Communication Content Developers, Communication Practitioners, and Communication Entrepreneurs.

FIKOM UKWMS students possess a great opportunity to take part in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) or Independent Campus’ Independent Learning program. This is supported by the applied curriculum which is Outcome Based Education (OBE). Several MBKM programs that students have participated in and have become benefits include Student Exchange (both domestically and abroad), Certified Internships and Kampus Mengajar (community service for teachers and academic staff in schools). WMSCU’s Communication Science curriculum is also designed to provide hands-on working experience in real industrial settings through practical work, whether it is in journalism, public relations, advertising, and broadcasting with various project-based assignments. The Three Responsibilities of Higher Education or Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (PT) activity is also supported by the successful partnerships that are established with the Business and Industrial World, as well as alumni who certainly complement the quality of FIKOM UKWMS.

Kind regards,

Brigitta Revia SF, SIKom., M.Med.Kom.
