The Industrial Engineering Study Program of Widya Mandala Surabaya Catholic University produces scholars who are capable of:

  1. providing a comprehensive solution to problems related to the manufacturing industry and services in order to becoming more efficient and effective;
  2. designing and analyzing an industrial system thoroughly, starting from market research, product and process design, and all the way until marketing and distribution system consisting of human, machine, material, work methods, capital, and effective and efficient information.
  3. critically and sensitively analyzing a work system in workplace to make a continuous improvement with a full responsibility for improving the overall performance of organization.


What Students Learn in the Industrial Engineering Study Department

The courses include Quality Planning and Control, Inventory Management and Warehousing, Production Scheduling, Supply Chain Management, Marketing Research, System Design and Ergonomics, Industrial System Design, Industrial Psychology, Operations Research, Production System, and Technical Economics.

The curriculum is enriched with up-to-date topics in elective courses starting from the fifth semester, i.e., Quality Engineering, Technology Management, Reliability Engineering, Decision Analysis, Health and Safety, Service Industry Design, Environmental Management, Six Sigma Philosophy, Project Management, Maintenance Management, and ISO 9000.

Industrial Engineering graduates are also equipped with communication, human resource management, and organizational skills by taking courses in the Faculty of Communication Science and Faculty of Psychology.

In addition to the regular program, students can also opt for the DUAL PROGRAM.


Majoring in Industrial Engineering and minoring in Financial Management : In addition to being proficient in Industrial Engineering, graduates will also gain knowledge and skills in corporate financial management.


Quality of Academic Environment

As the winner of the 2005-2006 A1 Competition Grant Program, implementers of the PHKI program in 2009-2011, and the Private Higher Education Development Grants Program (PHP-PTS) in 2014, the Industrial Engineering faculty members are experienced in conducting highly qualified classes. These classes are complemented with full laboratory activities with internet and Wi-Fi connections, plant visits, study tours, and guest lectures, with a curriculum design that allows students to graduate within 3.5 years. International program standards are also pursued in collaboration (Exchange Program) with Adamson University in the Philippines.

In addition to classroom education, students are also given self-development activities through student organizations, entrepreneurship practices and internships in industry, inclusion in Industrial Challenge, national seminars and various national competitions, outbound activities, and the formation of team work, character building, and other soft skills.

Industrial Engineering graduates can work in various fields, both in manufacturing and service industries, e.g., to become an entrepreneur, plant manager, marketing manager, production supervisor, sales manager, production planning control manager, systems and development manager, purchasing manager, and management consultant.
