Namun, bagaimana bila konidisi air yang sering digunakan keruh dan kotor, sedangkan kebutuhan manusia akan air bersih sangatlah tinggi? I Gede Andy Cliff Cahyadi, Mahasiswa Fakultas teknik, jurusan Teknik Elektro Universitas Katolik Widya Mandala Surabaya (UKWMS). Pria yang tengah menyelesaikan skripsinya mengenai \u201c<em>Otomatisasi Pompa Air Berdasarkan Kekeruhan Air\u201d<\/em> ini menawarkan sebuah inovasi untuk mengatasi masalah air keruh kepada masyarakat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Masalah air keruh tidak hanya terjadi di musim hujan saat air sungai seringkali menjadi keruh, pada saat musim kemarau sekalipun air yang mengalir ke rumah tangga masyarakat juga keruh karena membawa endapan lapisan tanah dari tempat pengolahan air. Kekeruhan yang acap dianggap sepele ini tak jarang merupakan sumber penyakit. \u201cOleh sebab itu, perlu dibuat alat pendeteksi kekeruhan air yang akan memonitor air sedotan dan mematikan aliran secara otomatis apabila air yang tersedot keruh melebihi batasan kesehatan yang sesuai dengan aturan kesehatan negara,\u201d ujar I Gede Andi Cliff yang mendapatkan ide inovasinya di bawah bimbingan Andrew Joewono ST., MT. Kelebihan lain dari alat ini adalah dapat dipasangkan pada semua jenis ataupun merek pompa air yang ada di pasaran tanpa merubah apalagi merusaknya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Idenya tercetus ketika Andy, sapaan akrabnya, melihat kondisi air di kawasan tempat tinggalnya yang keruh. Andy lantas bertekad menciptakan sebuah alat yang mampu mendeteksi kadar kekeruhan air yang ada pada tandon, cara kerja alat ini adalah jika kondisi air mengalami kekeruhan, maka pompa air dikondisikan dalam keadaan tidak aktif, serta memberikan peringatan kepada pengguna mengenai kekeruhan air yang terjadi. Sehingga, para pegguna dapat segera membersihkan wadah penampung airnya.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Secara spesifik Andy menjelaskan cara kerja alat ciptaannya, \u201calat ini menggunakan sensor cahaya untuk mendeteksi kondisi air didalam tandon, yang komponennya tersusun atas LED (Light Emitting Diode) sebagai pengirim cahaya dan LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) sebagai penerima cahayanya\u201d, ujar pria kelahiran Denpasar, 16 September 1992 ini.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tak hanya berhenti sampai disitu, hasil dari pembacaan sensor akan masuk ke mikrokontroler, yang berfungsi sebagai pemrosesan dan untuk mengkontrol <em>solid state relay<\/em> (saklar otomatis). Jika air dideteksi jernih, maka mikrokontroler akan mengaktifkan saklar tersebut ke kondisi menyala, sehingga pompa air akan menyala. Jika air terdeteksi keruh, maka mikrokontroler tidak mengaktfikan saklarnya, sehingga pompa air dalam keadaan mati.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cMikrokontroler itu seperti pengkontrol, kapan waktunya saklar nyala dan kapan waktunya saklar itu mati berdasarkan kondisi air yang terdeteksi oleh sensor tadi\u201d, ujar Andy sembari melanjutkan bahwa <em>output<\/em> dari alat ini berupa indikator lampu LED yang menyala, jika LED menyala Hijau maka tanda air itu bersih, Kuning tanda air tersebut sedikit keruh, dan Merah menandakan air tersebut keruh. Tak hanya indikator LED saja yang menyala, namun alarmpun juga menyala dan menimbulkan bunyi ketika kondisi air dalam keadaan keruh atau indikator LED berwarna Merah. Warga Sidoarjo ini berharap karyanya dapat dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat luas, sehingga dapat meminimalisir dampak air keruh dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.
