The Accounting Study Program at Universitas Katolik Widya Mandala Surabaya (UKWMS) was established in 1974. It operates under the Faculty of Economics (FE UKWMS), which has been in existence since 1965. The program originated from the establishment of a vocational education institution, namely the Adjunct Accountant Department, under the coordination of FE UKWMS, on November 1, 1974. In 1983, the Adjunct Accountant program was renamed to the Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. In 2010, the Faculty of Economics at UKWMS was renamed the Faculty of Business. Thus, the Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at UKWMS is currently under the Faculty of Business.
In its teaching and learning process, the Bachelor's Degree in Accounting implements an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum that supports the Merdeka Campus initiative. The Merdeka Learning Curriculum provides flexibility in educational programs, offering students opportunities to gain learning experiences through intra- and inter-study programs, intra- and inter-university collaborations, as well as field internships. Therefore, to achieve learning outcomes,learning outcomesstudents can utilize a wide and varied range of learning resources (intra-inter-study programs/universities/fieldwork). This allows students to channel their interests, talents, and potential, thereby strengthening their learning achievements. Students can choose to follow the Study Program Curriculum until graduation or opt for the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum.
The lecturers in the Accounting Study Program at UKWMS consist of academics who develop accounting knowledge and delve into theoretical aspects. Additionally, the program includes practitioners working as tax consultants, financial consultants, accounting consultants, auditors, and entrepreneurs. This enables students to deepen their knowledge from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Students of the Accounting Study Program at UKWMS have achieved various accomplishments, including winning competitions at the national level and participating in international-level competitions.
