Physics Education Study Program

The Physics Education Study Program produces professional Bachelor of Physics Education with the added competency of being able to develop computer-based science learning media and or being able to teach Physics in English.

Vision

Becoming a physics education study program that excels in the field of physics and physics learning media based on information and communication technology (ICT) that has a positive impact on improving the lives of others, and is based on the values of Pancasila and Catholic principles for the Strata-One Education and Professional Teacher Education level.

Mission  

  1. Producing educators in the field of physics who are superior, moral, and able to learn throughout life following the development of science and technology.
  2. Develop physics learning media based on information and communication technology through research and community service.

Based on the Decree of the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education 1433/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/V/2018 dated May 30, 2018 the S-1 Program Level of Physics Education Study Program again obtained B Accrediation

  1. Work Skills

Able to carry out teaching that applies various learning methods suitable for each subject listed in the physics curriculum in secondary schools and able to utilize Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the development of physics learning media on various subjects listed in the secondary school curriculum.

  1. Scientific / Knowledge Coverage

Mastering theoretical concepts in the field of physics and the field of education, especially Mechanics, Electromagnetics, Optics, Thermodynamics, Modern Physics and Core Physics for the field of physics and classroom management, learner development, various learning methods and evaluation of learning outcomes for the field of education, so as to be able to combine the two fields in the preparation of a comprehensive learning program design.

  1. Methods and Skill Levels

Able to carry out classroom action research (PTK) as a sustainable effort to solve physics learning problems that actually occur in the classroom by choosing one method (solution) from various possible alternative solutions, starting from designing proposals, implementing PTK, and reporting research results.

  1. Managerial Skills

Responsible for the physics learning process in the classroom and dedicated to helping each learner achieve optimal learning outcomes.

Semester Credit Unit (SKS) system with a load of 147 credits distributed in eight semesters, but can be completed within seven semesters.

The curriculum is designed so that graduates have the following competencies:

1. Education and Teaching
Mastering dasar-dasar pendidikan, berbagai metode pembelajaran and evaluasi hasil pembelajaran untuk bidang pendidikan, dan pengelolaan kelas.

2. Physics and Mathematics Knowledge Areas
Mastering concept theoretical field physics especially Mechanics, Electromagnetics, Optics, Thermodynamics, Modern Physics and Core Physics, thus able to deliver learning each physics subject matter for secondary school, able to guide the implementation of the activity physics experiments at the secondary school level. And have knowledge of physics and math required to prepare for continuing studies to master's degree in physics education as well as physics field.

3. Technology, Information and Communication
Have the ability to deliver high school physics lessons in English, and be able to design and develop science learning media based on information and communication technology.

The Physics Education Study Program has two specializations:

  1. Physics in English
  2. Physics in Computers

UKWMS Physics Education Study Program excels in physics material that develops computer-based physics learning, and communicates using English.

With a solid mastery of physics, graduates of the UKWMS Physics Education Study Program can work not only in education, but also in other fields that utilize science and technology. In addition, with the provision of leadership and management, graduates are also occupy various leadership positions in schools in other fields where they work. The professions of the graduates are as follows:

  • Educator (physics teacher in high school or lecturer in college)
  • Science learning media developer
  • Private tutor for Physics and Math
  • Science education consultant in schools
  • Researcher in physics education
  • Instructor/developer of physics practicum materials at school
  • Tutoring Manager
